POLLOCK!

Hi everybody! How’s going?

I have a cold at the moment but this didn’t prevent me from going to Pollock exhibit in Milan at Palazzo Reale on Saturday.

I don’t know if I told you about my passion for art in one of my posts. The fact is that I really enjoy art. That’s why as soon as there is something interesting I decide to go there and admire these beauties.

Just a couple of infos about this fantastic painter.

Pollock was born in Cody, Wyoming, in 1912. He was an influential American painter and a major figure in the abstract expressionist movement. He was well known for his unique style of drip painting. Jackson was one of the major artist of his generation, but he had a volatile personality that driven him to alcohol. Pollock died at the age of 44 in an alcohol-related car accident.

Together with Pollock’s paintings there were some other works from other artists of the same period as De Kooning, Hofmann and Newman.

These are some of their paintings. I really like them. I don’t know why, they just spread a mix of emotions that I can’t explain.

Ciao a tutti! Come state?

Al momento sono un pochino raffreddata ma questo non mi ha impedito di andare a vedere sabato la mostra di Pollock e gli Irascibili a Palazzo Reale a Milano.

Non ricordo se vi ho parlato della mia passione per l’arte in uno dei post precedenti. Il fatto è che adoro l’arte in tutte le sue forme, ma ciò che mi affascina di più sono l’arte moderna e contemporanea. Ecco perchè appena sento parlare di una mostra a riguardo devo andare ad ammirare queste opere.

In caso non aveste mai sentito parlare di questo artista (male male!), ecco un paio di informazioni.

Pollock nasce a Cody, nel Wyoming, nel 1912 e diventa uno dei più influenti pittori americani, nonchè una delle figure più importanti dell’espressionismo astratto. È conosciuto soprattutto per aver inventato la tecnica del drip painting e, per questo, fu uno dei più grandi artisti della sua generazione. Purtroppo, la sua instabile personalità lo condusse all’alcol. Morì all’età di 44 anni in seguito ad un incidente automobilistico.

Insieme alle opere di Pollock sono esposti i lavori di altri pittori a lui contemporanei come De Kooning, Hofmann e Newman.

Questi sono alcuni dei loro dipinti. Li trovo veramente fantastici. Non so il perchè, so solo che sono in grado di trasmettermi un mix di emozioni che non so spiegare.
